First, gather all your printing supplies and decide which items are necessary for what you will want to accomplish while printing on the go. Then, find a convenient box, bag, bucket, basket or case to carry them. If your printmaking papers won&#8217;t fit or remain flat, stash them in a separate notebook.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Here&#8217;s What I Bring<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Safe Wash Caligo Relief Inks<\/span>\u00a0 one tube each of process blue, process red, process yellow and opaque white. These will mix almost any color I need, including black.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Ink Applicators<\/span>\u00a0 3-inch soft rubber brayer and several cosmetic foam wedges in a small plastic bag.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Ink Mixers<\/span>\u00a0 scrap mat board pieces, cut to about 2&#8243;x 1\/2&#8243;, and rubber banded together.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Palette<\/span>\u00a0 length of freezer paper, rolled.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Cover Sheets<\/span>\u00a0 newsprint or paper towels cut into convenient sizes for covering inked objects when printing.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Tweezers<\/span>\u00a0 for handling tiny leaves and other small bits of nature.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Scissors<\/span>\u00a0 for cutting paper and plant materials.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Knife<\/span>\u00a0 for slicing through fleshy plants and fruits.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Masking Tape<\/span>\u00a0 for taping down corners of freezer paper palette.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Drafting Tape<\/span>\u00a0 for keeping printing papers in place on a breezy day.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Small Spray Bottle of Water<\/span>\u00a0 for cleaning hands, brayer, etc.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Paper Towels<\/span>\u00a0 for cleaning hands, brayer, etc.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Heavy Plastic Trash Bag<\/span>\u00a0 to serve as a clean surface to work on.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Small Trash Bag<\/span>\u00a0 for cleaning up at end of printing session.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Apron<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-165\" title=\"kit travel\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/laurabethmann.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/kit-travel-300x241.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"241\" srcset=\"https:\/\/laurabethmann.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/kit-travel-300x241.jpg 300w, https:\/\/laurabethmann.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/kit-travel-1024x825.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following items don&#8217;t fit in my kit so I carry them separately.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Notebook<\/span> filled with newsprint for making test prints and a variety of printmaking papers. Newsprint also serves as slip sheets in between prints that haven&#8217;t yet dried.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Small Journal and Pencil<\/span> for recording notes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Nature printing outdoors feels reminiscent of the adventurous pioneers in the New World.
